[ARCHIVED] Economic Development Awards Industrial Building Project Design Contract

CCECON News Flash

RUSTBURG, VA - Campbell County Economic Development is pleased to announce it has engaged Architectural Partners, a Lynchburg-based design firm specializing in architecture, planning, and interior design, for architectural design and construction management on Campbell County’s large industrial building project in Seneca Commerce Park. The firm will immediately begin the design for the 100,000 square foot shell building in anticipation of moving directly into the construction phase of the project once the site preparation is completed in early spring 2025.

“This project marks a historical investment by Campbell County and a new standard for business attraction to the County,” said Nina Rezai, Director of Economic Development. “It was important we partner with a firm that made us feel like a teammate. Architectural Partners brings a long history of development in our region and a great portfolio of economic development projects that made them stand out as the right company for the project.

"We are honored to partner with Campbell County on this exciting project in Seneca Commerce Park,” said Brian Goldman, Project Architect from Architectural Partners. “As a local firm with many team members calling Campbell County home, we are particularly enthusiastic about the opportunity to positively impact our own community. We’re ready to work hand-in-hand with the Economic Development team to bring this project to life."

About the Project

In October 2023, the Campbell County Board of Supervisors voted to approve the development of a 100,000 square foot industrial speculative building on 7.5 acres in Rustburg’s Seneca Commerce Park. At that time, the county was engaged in financing the renovation of Brookville High School for $25 million and the school administration later received a $15 million grant for the Brookville project. The reduction of the local share on the school renovation enabled Campbell County Board of Supervisors to utilize the additional low-interest financing for other capital projects in the county. Grant funding through the Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Committee and the Southeast Crescent Regional Commission also reduced the local share for the site preparation by 75%.

Campbell County Economic Development will be soliciting bids for the site clearing and grading stage of the project shortly with the expectation of awarding a contract in January 2025.
