Campbell County Department of Public Safety would like congratulate, Gladys Volunteer Fire Department Chief, Scott Horseman, for being the recipient of the 2018 Governor's Fire Service Award.
This is the second year in a row one of our Volunteer Fire Department Chiefs has been recognized by the Office of the Governor, as last year, Concord Volunteer Fire Department's past Fire Chief, Kenny Kirby was honored.
In the official press release, Governor Ralph S. Northam states, "Chief Scott Horseman has been a dynamic leader for the last ten years. His academic approach to solving problems has enabled him to overcome rather significant and complex rural volunteer fire department issues. For example, Chief Horseman has diligently worked to enhance the small community’s volunteerism within the fire services."
"Campbell County is extremely fortunate to have leadership as dynamic and engaging as Chief Horseman for the past ten years," said Tracy M. Fairchild, Director of Public Safety. "He has mentored several of our staff and volunteers with patience and wisdom, and always leads by example. He is an inspiration to all those who serve alongside him."
Likewise, 2018 was another landmark year for Campbell County volunteers, as the Central Virginia Firefighter's Association, Incorporated was highlighted for their bravery and service during the Tornado that struck the Timberlake Road area of Campbell County in April of last year.
Congratulations, Chief Horseman, the Gladys Volunteer Fire Department, and members of the Central Virginia Firefighters Association, Incorporated.. We are proud to serve with you!
