RUSTBURG – Due to damage to a fiber optic line, Campbell County’s 911 telephone service to the Brookneal (376), Rustburg (332) and Lynchburg (592) exchanges has been affected.
Telephone provider, Century Link, has located a damaged fiber between the Gladys and Altavista areas. Crews are working to remedy the situation and restore service to those affected. No service restoration estimate is available at this time.
Citizens may try calling 911 from cellular devices; however, as some systems are still experiencing difficulties, those needing emergency assistance should call (434) 283-9574 until further notice.
