The Campbell County Extension Office is holding a poster contest for youth to celebrate the importance of agriculture in our lives. The contest is for youth in third through 12th grades. Entries must be turned in no later than Friday, March 10, at 5 p.m.
The posters should reflect the theme “Growing Together.” Some examples of subjects include nutrition, a specific agricultural product, or bees and their importance in agriculture. The contest opens the door for youth to learn more about agriculture and the many parts of our lives touched by it.
The contest is open to youth in third through 12th grades who are residents of Campbell County, attend Campbell County schools, or who are members of Campbell County 4-H. Entries will be divided into categories based on grade level: grades third through fifth, grades sixth through eighth, and grades ninth through 12th. Prizes will be awarded in each grade level category.
All entries should be on poster board and should be approximately 11 inches by 14 inches in size. Materials for the poster board should be attached in a way that allows the poster to be hung on a wall. Please do not include any copyrighted or trademarked material such as product names, characters, song lyrics, etc. All entries must be the work of the youth. Adult help is not permitted.
The entries must be complete. Include your first and last name, school, grade, and a valid form of contact (phone, email, address) on the back of the poster. This information will not be visible to judges or voters.
Posters will be displayed at the Campbell County Extension Office and put on the Virginia Cooperative Extension-Campbell County and the Campbell County 4-H Facebook pages. People who visit the extension office or one of the Facebook pages can vote for their favorite poster (one vote per person per day) for the People’s Choice Award. Voting will take place during the week of March 13-17. Winners will be announced on National Agriculture Day, March 21.
Entries can be delivered to the Campbell County Extension Office, located in the Agriculture Building at 163 Kabler Lane, Rustburg, VA. Entries must be submitted during the business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Entries are due no later than March 10.
