About the Start Small Campbell Grant

Start Small Campbell Grants are available for up to four new Campbell County businesses per year through two semi-annual cycles. The goal of the Start Small Campbell Grant is to cultivate new successful businesses in the county by providing an incentive for entrepreneurial training. Since Campbell County Economic Development launched this program in the fall of 2021, nine Campbell County businesses have received this grant.

To be eligible for a Start Small Campbell Grant, the business must be open for less than three years in its first Campbell County, Virginia location; hold a valid Campbell County, Town of Altavista, or Town of Brookneal business license; and be up to date on all local taxes. The application requires the business owner to attend at least two qualifying business development workshops and have their business plans reviewed in a one-on-one meeting with an approved counselor at the Small Business Development Center-Lynchburg Region or the Spark Innovation Center in Altavista.

The application deadline for this grant cycle is April 28, 2025. More information about the Start Small Campbell Grant is available on the Campbell County VA Economic Development website: CampbellVirginia.com.
