RUSTBURG, VA - Our Public Safety team is monitoring this weather system closely. Our staff and volunteer crews are prepared should we receive higher 911 call volumes due to a storm impact over the weekend.
As always we encourage residents to be aware of the conditions around them and take the needed precautions to stay safe. These include:

- Have necessary supplies on hand should the storms cause power loss in your respective areas.
- Turn Around Don't Drown - even if water on the roadway looks shallow and harmless, it doesn't take much to sweep your car away. According to the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS), a small car can be swept away by water that's only 12 inches deep, and 2 feet of flowing water can dislodge and carry most vehicles, including larger ones. Also, staying home can minimize the risk to your safety and make the roadways safer and more accessible to emergency response teams and Virginia Department of Transportation (VDoT) crews.
- Remember to only call 911 with emergencies – this keeps Public Safety and volunteer emergency resources available to those who need immediate care and assistance.
- Report any power or internet outages directly to your service providers.
