CCSO CARE Alert: Beware of Phone Scam Impersonating Law Enforcement

RUSTBURG, VA - The Campbell County Sheriff's Office wants to warn residents about a scam call reported over the weekend.

A local citizen reported receiving a phone call from an individual claiming to be 'Sergeant Carson' from the Campbell County Sheriff's Office. The caller attempted to solicit money from the resident and called from the phone number 1-757-551-0968.

Please be advised:

The CCSO will never request money or financial information over the phone.
If you receive a suspicious call claiming to be a law enforcement officer or any official, do not provide personal or financial information.
Always verify the caller's identity by contacting the Sheriff's Office directly at (434) 332-9574.

If you receive any suspicious calls or believe you have been targeted by a scam, please report it immediately to the Campbell County Sheriff's Office.
