A BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT

RUSTBURG, VA - Sheriff Whit Clark, and the Campbell County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with One Community, One Voice, is pleased to offer a Back to School Event for the students of Brookneal.

The event, which will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Campbell County Public Safety Station 5 (located at 1104 Lynchburg Ave, Brookneal, VA 24528), is geared towards providing students with resources such as free backpacks, supplies, and shoes to help their school year be successful.  

"Through sponsorships and donations obtained from two of Brookneal's homegrown businesses - Foster Fuels, and Elite Recycling, LLC - we are able to provide backpacks filled with school supplies to all children in attendance," notes Sgt. Jeff Rater, Campbell County Sheriff's Office. 

In addition, several community partners have agreed to be on site with informational booths to help citizens by sharing details about programs or offerings which might benefit their families.

The event, coordinated by Sgt. Jeff Rater and Pastor James E. Camm (Living Word Ministries; One Community, One Voice), brings a variety of departments together in one spot to help with things such as employment opportunities, healthcare and wellness information, and nutrition as well as athletic and recreational activities in the area.

"This is an event to bring the whole family out to; it's our hope to connect them with resources that are desperately needed," said Pastor Camm.  "This is just the beginning of what we can do when we all work together in our community."
