Campbell County School of Karate

The Campbell County Department of Parks and Recreation is sponsoring the School of Karate. Students taking the classes listed below can take a single session or they can continue on until they reach higher belt ranks.
Class fees are due at the time of registration. Current students MUST register for the upcoming session by the last class date of the current session or come by the Recreation Office to register for upcoming classes. New students must register at the Campbell County Parks and Recreation office.
If your name does not appear on the class roll, you will not be allowed in class.

Basketball Open Gym
The Campbell County Recreation Department will be sponsoring an open gym basketball for boys and girls ages 15 to 19. Participants must attend a local high school to be eligible to play. Participants must register at the Recreation Office by Friday, Jan. 8.
Fee: $20 per participant

Challenger Softball League
Campbell County Recreation Department is pleased to sponsor the Yellow Branch Challenger League. This league is a volunteer program specifically for individuals ages 6 and up who are intellectually and/ or physically challenged. This program inspires individual athletic strength and encourages players to develop friendships in a family-oriented setting.
Spring schedule begins April 12.
Registrations must be received by April 8.
The team will play each Tuesday and Thursday, 6 - 8 p.m.

NAYS Basketball Coaches Training (Initial Level)
This training is for all Campbell County Recreation Department Youth Basketball Coaches. It is provided by the National Alliance for Youth Sports. Coaches who successfully complete the Initial Level Membership training will automatically receive the following: Youth Sports Journal, Certificate of Completion, $1,000,000 excess liability insurance, membership card, exclusive online member area, annual subscription to SportingKid magazine, monthly newsletter, and exclusive Corporate Discount/Programs.

Description: Part 1- includes coaches learning preventing youth sports violence, teaching good sportsmanship, keeping players active at practice, building confidence, the role of winning in youth sports, working with parents, nutrition and hydration, injury prevention/conditioning, and stretching. Rustburg Youth Wrestling Club
Fee: $25 per child (ages K through 8th Grade)
Practices will be on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning Nov. 2 through March 2016 at Rustburg Middle School. Participants will learn wrestling techniques used at the high school level. They will wrestle in several tournaments on Saturdays. For more information, contact Ron Reynolds at 434-821-8854.

Girls Developmental Volleyball
The Central Virginia Volleyball, Inc. and the Campbell County Recreation Department is sponsoring a Girls Developmental Volley Program. This program is instructional and will teach participants the skills to play volleyball through drills and scrimmage games. Each session is limited to 15 participants.
Fee: $60 per participant
Dates: Sundays, Jan. 17 - Feb. 21
Location: Yellow Branch Elementary School Gym
Ages and Session Times:
3rd, 4th, and 5th graders: 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
6th, 7th, and 8th graders: 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.

Spring Break Track Camp
Participants will learn proper running form and basic techniques of the different track events (long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, discus, hurdles, 50 and 200 meter relays). Participants must wear running shorts, T-shirts, and running shoes (no open-toed shoes or bare feet).

Ladies Fitness Class
Join Melanie Turpin for 20 sessions of low-impact, fat-burning, metabolism boosting aerobics. Classes are filled with great music, fun, and fellowship. Advance registration is required.

Fees: $375 per team ($100 refundable forfeit fee)

Team limits: Independent, 6 teams; Church, 6 teams
Registration is on a first come, first served basis. Fee includes balls provided by the Recreation Department. To qualify in this league, at least half of the team members must live or work in Campbell County. A league adult application form must accompany league fees. Rosters must be turned in to the Recreation Office prior to the first game.
