Public Safety

Director of Public Safety

Description

Campbell County is seeking a forward-thinking, organized and motivated Public Safety Director with excellent management skills to oversee a comprehensive Public Safety program for the County.  The Public Safety Director ensures the effective delivery of animal control, communications, emergency management, emergency medical and fire services to the public in a combination volunteer/career system.  The position manages and directs a County Department and is responsible for preparation of operational and capital budgets; carrying out supervisory responsibilities; maintaining positive working relationships with volunteer providers; and developing and implementing an overall set of goals for Public Safety services consistent with policies adopted by the County.  This position serves as the Emergency Program Manager and Coordinator of Emergency Services, is the primary point of contact for the County’s emergency services related committees, and serves as Emergency Operations Group chief when the Emergency Operations Center is activated during emergencies.  The ideal candidate will have: a comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of Public Safety operations; considerable management and public relations skills, including grant writing, budget preparation, and report writing; and extensive experience in fire, EMS/rescue operations and incident command. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, no less than five (5) years experience, and  no less than three (3) years supervisory experience; Firefighter II,  HAZMAT Operations, NIMS, and EMT-B certification.

Information Technology

Network Engineer

Description

The Campbell County Information Technology Department is seeking an organized and skilled Network Engineer. This position requires knowledge of network communication hardware, network security, and wireless technology. The duties include network monitoring, troubleshooting and resolving problems, engineering and implementation of LAN, WAN and Wireless technologies. The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of data communications protocol and industry standards such as internet, intranet, internet security, frame relay and data networks.  Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Cisco Certified Entry Networking technician certifications desired.  Prior government experience is a plus.  This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of related experience.

Starting Salary Range: $43,588 – 48,565 depending upon qualifications and experience plus an excellent benefits package.

Real Estate

County Real Estate Assessor

Description

The Campbell County Department of Management Services is seeking a forward-thinking, organized and motivated Assessor with excellent interpersonal skills to direct, plan and organize the Real Estate Office as well as the appraisal and assessment of real property in the County.  The primary duties of the County Assessor include but are not limited to: managing and participating in reassessing all real estate in the County on a schedule prescribed by the Board of Supervisors; overseeing the development, preparation, and maintenance of the residential and commercial appraisal systems within the CAMA system; and acting as the County’s representative to the Board of Equalization and overseeing coordination of Board of Equalization processes.  This position manages and directs the Real Estate Office with a supporting staff of 5.  The ideal candidate will have project management experience, experience with CAMA systems and GIS, extensive knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and techniques of appraising real estate, and thorough knowledge of state laws and local ordinances covering the assessment of real estate.  This position requires a bachelor’s degree, six (6) years of related experience, four (4) years of supervisory experience, and a professional designation as a CAE, SPRA, and/or MAI.

Public Safety

Technician (EMT-B or EMT-Enhanced)

 

Description

The Campbell County Department of Public Safety, EMS Division is seeking two motivated, customer service oriented and skilled Emergency Medical Service providers at the level of EMT-B or EMT-Enhanced.  Applicants must have current Virginia EMS certification, NIMS IS-700 and NIMS IS-100 certification along with current EVOC and CPR certifications.  In addition the applicant must be certified at the level of VDFP Firefighter 1. This position requires honesty, integrity and the ability to work well with the County’s EMS Volunteers. In addition, those selected for these positions will be assigned to a 24 hour work shift schedule.

The successful candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening, DMV record check, and criminal history background check.
