In alignment with the Code of Virginia , Section § 15.2-2223, the Campbell County Department of Community Development is seeking public input on the Campbell County Comprehensive Plan’s five-year update. Citizens are encouraged to provide feedback on various long-range community planning topics, including transportation, housing, education, economic development, natural resources, recreation, public services and other issues pertaining to County planning and development efforts.

The Campbell County Heritage Festival Committee, in cooperation with the Campbell County Recreation Department, is pleased to offer the 6th annual Heritage Festival. This one-day event will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at the William Campbell High School (adjacent to the Community Park) in Naruna, Virginia, from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Admission is $5.00 per person, with children ages 10 and under admitted free of charge. All proceeds from the event will be applied to development of the Community Park.

As the Brookneal Rescue Squad recently ceased operations, Campbell County Department of Public Safety Career EMS staff, in cooperation with five local EMS squads, will continue to provide quality service and support the EMS framework in the Brookneal area. There will be no lapse in emergency services rendered to citizens associated with this closure.

Following months of research and planning, the Campbell County Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Real Estate Offices launched a new, feature-rich website this week that makes searching local property maps, real estate information and geographical data much easier.

Citizens are advised that on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. the Campbell County Planning Commission will host seperate public hearings on a proposed Ordinance of Vacation for property located in Campbell County. Following their recommendations, an additional public hearing will be held by the Campbell Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 5:30 p.m., with respect to the proposed ordinance. The public is invited to make their views known.

Campbell County’s EMS billing policy and its respective rates/criteria were updated by the Campbell County Board of Supervisors in January 2014 to ensure continued levels of service excellence in the midst of growing 911 call volume and emergency response demands. Stemming from this update, a new collection process will go into effect on Tuesday, July 1, 2014.

On Tuesday, June 3, 2014, Campbell County Department of Social Services Employee, Mrs. Susan Rosser Jones, was recognized for her steadfast contributions to positive aging in the Region 2000 area by the Beard Center on Aging, located at Lynchburg College. Mrs. Jones, an honors graduate of Lynchburg College, has dutifully served Campbell County and its’ citizens for over thirty years, and has dedicated her career to serving the needs of the aging, the elderly and their caregivers.

Health Services

The Campbell County Health Department is part of the Central Virginia Health District and the Virginia Department of Health. The Health Department has both clinical functions and community health functions. The department's programs include Environmental Health, Nursing Services, Child Development Clinic. 

The Campbell County Health Department is located at 116 Kabler Lane in Rustburg.  Office hours are 8:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Monday through Friday.  To schedule an appointment, or for more information, please contact the office during business hours at (434) 332-9550, 283-9550, or 592-9550.

Fees for services include:

Sewage System permit $425.00
Well permit $300.00
Annual Restaurant/Hotel permit $40.00
Annual Plan Reviews for Restaurants/Hotels $40.00
