The Campbell County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program ( R.S.V.P.) held its annual recognition luncheon on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Waterlick Moose Lodge (934 Waterlick Rd, Lynchburg, VA). Campbell County RSVP, a local volunteer program for Americans ages 55 and older, currently enrolls over 270 senior volunteers who serve in various organizations throughout the Region 2000 area. These individuals perform needed support duties in hospitals, thrift stores, food pantries, nursing homes, museums, and local churches. Collectively, these community servants have provided 29,000+ volunteer hours to local agencies in 2014.

Campbell County Career Fair for Local Citizens: The Campbell County Department of Economic Development and Department of Social Services will host a career fair on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Campbell County Technical Center, 194 Dennis Riddle Drive, Rustburg, VA (located behind Yellow Branch Elementary School at the intersection of VA Route 29 and VA Route 24).

At their January 21, 2015 meeting, the Campbell County Social Services Board officially appointed Lisa C. Linthicum as the new Director of Social Services; Linthicum assumed the position on February 1, 2015, having served as Interim Director since December 2014. Bringing over 20 years of social services and management experience to the role, Linthicum will oversee local social work and protection services for children and adults, support operations for those in need, yearly state and County budget planning for social services’ programs, and the coordination of the department’s volunteer efforts in the community.

At their November 4, 2014 meeting, the Campbell County Board of Supervisors approved County offices to open for public business on the following state-observed holidays (beginning January 2015): • Martin-Luther King Day; • Presidents’ Day; • Columbus Day; and • Veterans’ Day.

2014 Board of Supervisors

Campbell County is governed by a seven-member Board of Supervisors serving four-year staggered terms. 

Regularly scheduled meetings of the Board of Supervisors are  held on the first Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. with the Board addressing administrative items, as needed, until 6:00 p.m. The Board will recess from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., reconvening at 7:00 p.m. to address any unfinished matters and/or conduct any scheduled public hearings. Board of Supervisors meetings are held on the basement level of the Haberer Building, 47 Courthouse Lane, Rustburg, VA 24588.
