RUSTBURG, VA - Campbell County Public Library System Director, L. Jordan Welborn would like to take a moment to warn patrons of a potential scam email circulating that is requesting library users to pay fines online.
"We recently were made aware of an email that appears to come from our library asking patrons to clear up overdue fees via an online transaction," said Welborn. "We are warning our library users not to click the link; this is not legitimate, and we will never include a link to pay fines over the internet."
In fact, library staff want users to know that legitimate notices come from "bpls@tlcdelivers.com" and advise patrons to always check the sender email before clicking on any attachments. Additionally, the subject line would read "Overdue Notice (BPLS/CCPLS/LPL)".
"We care about the security of our patrons, and their privacy and data," remarks Welborn. "We invite you to always pick up the phone and call us if you are ever unsure."
