[ARCHIVED] CCPLS to Accept Canned Goods for Fines May 22 – 26

Food for Fines

The Campbell County Public Library System will accept canned food items for fines during the week of May 22 - 26.

If you have a Campbell County Public Library card and have an account balance for overdue fines, lost items, or damaged books, you can bring canned goods to any branch of the library to have $1 taken off your account. Each can of food will count for $1 off, up to $50 per cardholder.

We cannot accept cans for lost or damaged items from the Lynchburg or Bedford public library systems. Please do not donate boxed goods, expired items, or cans that are dented or rusted.

If you don’t have an account balance but wish to donate canned goods, you may do so, and library staff will apply the fine reduction to another patron’s account. However, we cannot share account information, so we cannot share who you will be helping.

The food will be donated to a charity in the service area of each branch: Altavista to DAWN; Brookneal to BEAM; Rustburg to the little free pantry; and Timbrook to Timbrook United Methodist Church.

If you have any questions, please contact Library Director Jordan Welborn at 434-332-9657 or
