[ARCHIVED] Department of Community Development Launches Online Services Portal for Citizens

Online Service Portal Button

RUSTBURG, VA – Effective immediately, residents and developers will be able to apply for and track permits related to property developments in Campbell County.

The Campbell County Department of Community Development is pleased to announce the offering of an online services portal where citizens and developers may submit applications, edit existing applications, and request inspections. The portal, located at: provides resources and documents designed to not only help a backyard builder, but also assists experienced contractors with the ability to track their various permitting needs.

Along with the launch of the portal, the department is also releasing a series of informative videos (available on the County’s website, social media sites, and youtube channel) which introduce the different divisions of Community Development. Each video is geared to help citizens and developers understand the processes involved from permit application to project completion.

“I’m proud of all the effort that our staff performed to create an easy to understand, easy to navigate system,” notes Paul Harvey, Director of Campbell County Community Development and Youth Services. “Thanks to their collective work, we can blend the excellent service our customers are accustomed to with the newest technology available – making the whole process as seamless as possible.”

The online services portal launched earlier this year, allowing Campbell County to join the ranks of other localities that also provide the convenience of e-Permitting style services online.

On the portal, citizens and contractors may:

  • Apply for Permits;

  • Submit drawings and other documents for review;

  • Request an inspection;

  • Lookup pending applications, issued permits, and inspection results; and

  • Review parcel information.

In order to help with understanding the new processes, contractors are encouraged to request training on how to use this new technology. Although mass in-person training sessions have not yet been scheduled, those interested may contact the Department of Community Development at (434) 332-9596, or via email at: to make an appointment with staff for a one-on-one consult.
