April 1, 2020 is Census Day - and that’s no April Fool’s Day joke! This nationwide count of every person in the United States provides critical data that helps determine how to distribute $800 billion in federal funding.
As you may be aware, the 2020 Census counts every person living in the United States and five U.S. territories. In mid-March, homes across the country began receiving invitations to complete the 2020 Census. Once the invitation arrives, you should respond for your home in one of three ways: online, by phone, or by mail. When you respond to the census, you’ll tell the Census Bureau where you live as of April 1, 2020.
A fair and accurate count makes certain that there is strong representation for federal, state, county and school board districts. It helps businesses to project sales and make decisions about locations and hiring. It also helps cities plan for school class sizes, health facilities, roads and public transit, grocery stores, and so many other vital parts of life in our neighborhoods.
Campbell County encourages its citizens to complete their census - not only is it confidential, but it’s easy to complete, and supports our community.
