[ARCHIVED] Official Press Release: Cancellations and/or Service Postponements Due to COVID-19/Coronavirus

Campbell County, VA is committed to the health and safety of its employees, residents and workplace visitors and is committed to minimizing the risk of exposure and transmission of COVID-19. The county will make all reasonable efforts to provide essential services to residents on an uninterrupted basis during a pandemic viral outbreak; however, some programs and services may be affected.

As the COVID-19 situation continues to develop and in accordance with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) recommendations and guidelines, Campbell County will be announcing postponements, cancellations and closings. Please continue to check the our website and social media pages for new and updated information.

As of today, March 17, 2020, here is the list of programs and/or service postponements and cancellations:

  • Campbell County Sheriff’s Office is suspending all fingerprinting services until further notice. Excluded are those individuals whom are under court order. In addition, the event "Unity in the Community," scheduled to take place in the Brookneal community on March 28, 2020, has been cancelled.
  • Campbell County Public Library System, Virginia have paused all programs. The four library branches are currently planned to operate until 6:00 p.m. today, at which time will be closed until March 31, 2020 . Please continue to call us, check our website, and/ or our social media pages for further updates. As always, our online resources can be found at 24/7.
  • Campbell County Recreation Department has closed programs including Senior Centers and events until March 30. Please keep in mind that this can change as we move forward. If you have questions please feel free to call the office at 434-332-9570. Although the state’s theme parks have adjusted their opening schedules due to public health concern, the Department is currently selling Busch Gardens tickets; however, Kings Dominion tickets have not arrived yet. For more information on their opening dates, please visit their respective websites.
  • Campbell County Department of Public Safety has closed the Campbell County Animal Care and Control Facility to the general public, starting today. The shelter will still receive emergency animal turn-ins, those reclaiming a pet, and pet adoptions by appointment. Staff and volunteers will continue required animal care and control services. If you have questions regarding lost pets, adoptions, and reclaiming of an animal, please contact Friends of Campbell County Animal Control at (434) 821-4416 or email If you have an animal control issue, please call the Campbell County Public Safety non-emergency number at (434) 332-9574 or 911 in case of an emergency.
  • Campbell County Courts are closed, due to the Chief Justice of the Virginia Supreme Court issuing a Judicial Emergency until Monday, April 6, 2020 in response to public health concerns. Citizens are encouraged to contact the respective courts for information regarding their cases. The numbers are as follows: Campbell County Juvenile and Domestic Relations - (434) 332-9555; Campbell County Circuit Court - (434) 332-9517; and Campbell County General District Court - (434) 332-9546.
