 Application - Interim Board of Supervisors Appointment  

The Board of Supervisors, at their August 7, 2018 regular meeting, opted to solicit public applications for an interim Board representative to fill a recent Altavista seat vacancy (as provided under the Code of Virginia - § 24.2-228. Interim appointment to local governing body or elected school board; elected mayor).  The Honorable Stanley I. Goldsmith held the Altavista District’s Board of Supervisor’s seat for ten years, prior to his retirement from the Board on August 1, 2018.

Applicants for the interim Board position must be registered to vote in the Altavista District and confirm that they are not a candidate for the respective seat in the November 6, 2018 special election. The application for this interim Board seat (see attached) is located on the Campbell County website at and must be submitted to Campbell County Administration (P.O. Box 100, 47 Courthouse Lane, Rustburg, VA 24588) by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 17 for consideration. Per the Board of Supervisors August 7, 2018 meeting agenda item on this matter, the following timeline will guide the interim representative’s selection process in the days ahead:

•Applications from interested parties are due to County Administration by close of business, Friday August 17.

•Board convenes in closed session during the Tuesday, August 21 work session to review/discuss candidates. Board identifies who, if anyone, they would like to interview.

The selected applicant would serve from time of appointment until the elected representative is seated in January 2019.
