At its March 7 meeting, the Campbell County Board of Supervisors voted to declare April 3 – 7 Work Zone Awareness Week in Campbell County.
With the declaration, the board expressed its appreciation for the work undertaken by the Virginia Department of Transportation, its contractors, and other roadside workers.
The declaration is in conjunction with National Work Zone Awareness Week. The week is also recognized in Virginia as Work Zone Awareness Week.
During this week, it is recognized that VDOT workers and other roadside works put their lives on the line for the residents of Virginia each time they work on our roadways.
VDOT reminds us to be aware of roadside workers in “9 Simple Rules for Driving Safely in a Work Zone” on its website. The rules include minimizing distractions, paying attention, and having patience.
