Challenger Basketball League



The Campbell County Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring the Yellow Branch Challenger League. This league is a volunteer program specifically for individuals, ages 6 and up, who are intellectually and/or physically challenged.

This program inspires individual athletic strength while encouraging players to develop friendships in a family-oriented setting. 

The team plays each Thursday from 6 - 8 p.m.

Site: Yellow Branch Elementary School
 
Fee: $25.

Basketball Open Gym



The Campbell County Parks and Recreation Department will be sponsoring an open gym for basketball for boys and girls ages 15 to 19. Participants must attend a local high school to be eligible to play.

Day/Time: Sundays, 4 – 6 p.m.
Dates: Jan. 8 – March 5, 2017
Site: Rustburg Middle School
Fee: $20 per participant

Participants must register at the Parks and Recreation Office by Friday, Jan. 6, 2017.

NAYS Basketball Coaches Training (Initial Level)



This training is for coaches who plan to volunteer for the Campbell County Parks and Recreation Department as a Youth Basketball Coach. It is provided by the National Alliance for Youth Sports. Coaches who successfully complete the Initial Level Membership training will automatically receive: Youth Sports Journal, Certificate of Completion, $1 million excess liability insurance, membership card, exclusive online member area, annual subscription to SportingKid magazine, monthly newsletter, and exclusive Corporate Discount/Programs.

Time: 2: – 6 p.m.
Location: Campbell County Parks and Recreation Department Office
Cost: $20
Registration deadline: Friday, Dec. 9

Description: Part 1 includes coaches learning preventing youth sports violence, teaching good sportsmanship, keeping players active at practice, building confidence, the role of winning in youth sports, working with parents, nutrition and hydration, injury prevention/conditioning, and stretching.

Part 2 will cover drills, skills, and fundamentals of basketball.
